This quaint Black-Owned coffee shop is nestled inside an Oceanside plaza, but can’t be missed!
We recently had a chance to catch up with Abbey Garner, Co-Owner of ByGood Coffee in Oceanside and we are so happy we did!
ByGood Coffee was founded by two determined parents who are very knowledgeable about coffee and wanted to bring awareness to an appreciation of specialty coffees and teas to the Suburbs of Long Island through the innovative ways of how they brew coffee.
“I am proud to be black, and I never hide my blackness. When I inquired about renting the space, I asked the owner how would people accept me?” Says Abbey.
Patrons told her if the “Oceanside Mom’s” didn’t give their stamp of approval, the business wouldn’t last only but for a few months. Well, wrong! The Oceanside moms are some of her best customers and good friends today.
The Trinidadian native grew up on farm-grown foods and wanted to bring that same experience to her customers.
“Everything here is quality and natural.” ByGood coffee affirms this in their selection of coffee, teas, pastries, and branding. The droplet in their logo – coffee starts with 98% reverse osmosis water purification system, then 1% coffee bean, and 1% barista. “It all starts with water; great water,” says Abbey.
ByGood Coffee is a third wave specialty coffee café that focuses on roasting the highest quality of coffee in small batches (micro-roasting).
Not only do they specialize in coffees, but ByGood Coffee also retails their blend of loose leaf tea. My favorite is the Berry Berrylicious. The Berrylicious is a blend of organic hibiscus flowers, rosehips, rooibos, orange peel mango, and passion fruit. The tea is super-fragrant and the smell hits you as soon as you open the box. I also love that you can drink it hot or cold.
On their menu, you can also find natural smoothies good for the mind, body, and soul. What more can we ask for?
ByGood Coffee brings warmth to Long Island, and it’s the perfect place to gather. “We love when people gather here. We have paint parties, coffee cuppings, Jazz night and a host of events.”
